The Situation

Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital is the first JCI-accredited public hospital in Thailand. The hospital is committed to seeking best practices in quality and patient safety and to providing medical services morally, ethically and dedicatedly with "Highly Service-minded personnel"

As part of its efforts to provide a convenient and safe medical environment for patients, Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital was searching for an IP intercom system for inpatient wards, which is required to meet the following requirements:
· Remote door entry control
· Reliable communication.

The Solution

Akuvox's R20A SIP-based door phone and IT80 touch screen indoor monitor were selected for their ease of use and open integration capability. The door phone was installed at the entrance of the inpatient wards and the indoor monitor on the wall of the staff office.

Thanks to the door phone's built-in RF card reader and the integrated 3rd-party access control device, only authorized personnel with an access card can enter the ward area freely. Visitors can ring up the staff via the call button of the door phone, which provides excellent hands-free communication. Through the indoor monitor, the staff are able to see the visitor and talk with him/her to confirm his/her identity and purpose of the visit before granting door entry remotely.

The Results

The solution measured up to the expectation of the hospital, whose reliable and easy-to-use functionality enhance the hospital’s operational efficiency and improve its service quality. In the first three months after the deployment of the solution, the number of unwanted visitors and strangers were greatly reduced and the patient. The staff feel a greater sense of security and safety and the patient’s family members are also happy with the new security measure in place.
