Xiamen, China-July 13, 2020: Akuvox is delighted to announce that its smart intercom is now compatible with Milestone XProtect®, a world-leading IP-based video management software (VMS).

How the Integration Works

The compatibility between Akuvox’s SIP-based doorphones and Milestone XProtect is ensured by the ONVIF protocol and RTSP streaming. When Akuvox’s doorphones are added to the XProtect® system, its HD camera, inputs and outputs are automatically mapped to XProtect® for further usage.

The successful integration allows security operators to remotely monitor entrances, visually verify visitors’ identities, and open doors via Akuvox’s smart doorphones in XProtect®. The operator can immediately see who is standing at the building entrance, and grant or deny access to the visitor after visually verifying his/her identity.

Improve Control and Security of Building Entrance

The integration allows security operators to improve control and security over building entrances. They can enjoy the features of an advanced intercom system in the Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS). For example, operators can stream live video from Akuvox smart intercom directly to XProtect® Smart Client to quickly detect any suspicious activity at the front door. 

Enhance Work Process Efficiency for Security Operators

The integration also makes everything accessible from one unified interface. Thanks to the integration, there is no need of an intercom answering unit for the security operators to check on the security status of the building entrance. Videos of Akuvox’s smart doorphones and other IP cameras of the building are displayed together in the easy-to-use Milestone XProtect® Smart Client interface. Eliminating the need to run two separate systems at the same time, it greatly enhances the work process efficiency of system operators.

The successful interoperability between Akuvox smart intercom and Milestone XProtect® allows security operators to harness the advanced functionality of smart doorphones via the powerful live monitoring of Milestone’s VMS platform. It helps them improve control over building entrances, increase the security level of premises, and optimize work processes.
