Xiamen, China - 7, October 2022 - Akuvox, the global leading provider of smart intercom and smart home products and solutions, announced that its E12 video door phone had won the Good Design Award, one of the most famous design awards in the world. This is the third time that E12 has been highly recognized in world-class design competitions in 2022 after it scooped up the iF Design Award and Red Dot Design Award early this year. 

Good Design Award is a movement aimed at enriching our lives and societies through design. Since the foundation in 1957, it has been commonly known together with the "G Mark", the symbol of winning the award. The guiding ideals of the system are humility, honesty, innovation, esthetics, and ethics.  

 

Akuvox E12, a powerful and elegant intercom unit, reflects comprehensive design values and principles that aim to enrich lives, industries, and society. Its design fulfills the principle of minimalism. The reflective upper part contrasts with the brushed aluminum alloy below, making E12 look neat and chic. Like an epitome of the universe, E12 embodies the beauty of dynamic and stillness in one unit. The dot matrix between the light ring and the camera itself resembles a blooming sunflower, bringing the vitality of life. The clear blue LED stripe around the button “calls out” to users and shows them clearly where to press for issuing a call. And the artful color scheme of classic black, white, and gray makes it easy for this compact unit to blend into various environments and buildings.

 

Despite a slim body, E12 boasts many cutting-edge access control and intercom features. In addition to traditional RFID tags and cards, it caters to the on-the-go lifestyle of modern living by offering mobile access via Bluetooth and NFC, which facilitates users with greater convenience. A motion detection zone has been introduced to E12 which enables tenants to keep an eye on their front doors anywhere anytime through their smartphones. Tenants are allowed to customize the motion detection zone to focus on a walkway and avoid swinging branches or cars driving by. Besides, WDR technologies have equipped the camera with the adaptability to changing light so users can always clearly see the face of a visitor at their doorstep.

Only the two circles visually and briefly show the function as a door phone. In addition to pressing the usual button, it can be operated with NFC, RFID cards, Bluetooth, and specific apps, which will have a wide range of uses. The compatibility allows tenants to confirm visitors’ identities through crystal clear video calls issued from the E12 door phone. And they can unlock the door remotely for visitors anywhere anytime on Akuvox’s SmartPlus app, triggering E12 to release the 3rd-party smart lock. The great openness of E12’s intercom system makes it easy to bring more convenience and security to people’s lives.

 

Designed solid and compact, E12 is suitable for all types of front doors, be it villas, apartments, or condos, especially for doors with limited installation space. Rated IP65 and highly resistant to UV, E12 is proof against rain, heat, snow, dust, and dirt. Thanks to its robustness, E12 can withstand a working temperature ranging from -40℃ to 60℃.
